(1×) - Don't use Asian pears.... they ended up very mealy.

Changes: Add maceration step, increase sugar, remove pectin, add ginger, sub brown sugar for molasses
(1.78×) - Skipped maceration step but still worked out pretty good. Didn't set quite fully but not syrupy. Used Bartlett pears which had a much better texture than Asian pears.
